Each country has a few schemes that entitle students to discounts. The thing is that they are not publicised, so most of the youth today is unaware that these discount exist. Once students realise they can get discounts, they flash their student card everywhere they go to try and get a discount.

What can you do if you are under 26 and not a student? Well, there are also youth discount cards that are available. Armed with a youth discount card you can ask everywhere you go for a discount and see what reductions you can get.

There are several internationally recognised youth discount cards. It would be good to see more and more shops and attractions offering discounts for card holders to encourage youth to do more outdoor activities. If governments and outdoor the activity industry got together to support these internationally recognised youth discount cards, then the current issue of childhood obesity and apparent slovenly youth culture could be turned around.
