| European Golf and Leisure Show Tees Off |

A major sporting event has been unveiled in the north-east of Scotland. The inaugural European Golf and Leisure Show was recently launched by former Open champion Paul Lawrie as he drove a ball down Aberdeen Airport's runway.
The event, which will be staged on February 27-28 at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, will offer educational displays, professional advice, celebrity appearances and visitor interaction. Visitors of all ages will have the chance to try golf and discover more about it and a range of other sporting and outdoor activities.

Speaking at the launch Paul Lawrie said, "As well as having a large focus on golf, there will also be a chance to meet a variety of sporting stars and an opportunity to try a wide range of sports and outdoor pursuits for which the north-east of Scotland is rightly famous."
George Walker, event co-director, added, "The north-east of Scotland has so much to offer people who are interested in leisure activities. The area boasts over 70 golf courses and its landscape caters for a diverse range of activities, from surfing to hill walking. There really is something for everyone and the show will reflect this."
With a strong emphasis on education, the show will actively encourage golf and sports development in all age groups, particularly children, providing an excellent platform from which like-minded organisations and associations can raise awareness of their work.
In addition to the main exhibition, a sports dinner, with a golfing theme, will be staged on the Saturday evening. Money raised on the evening will go to the events nominated charity Leukaemia Research.
