Brighton Still Popular for Outdoor Activities

Brighton in West Sussex, UK, is a great place to go for outdoor activities. The weekend will see lots of young people on the beach, on the pier, and partaking in a range of outdoor activities from beach volleyball and climbing to kite flying and sailing.

Brighton and Hove hosts an amazing range of outdoors activities for the young spirited. Firstly there's the beach. The beach is stony, but there is usually plenty of space to set yourself up for the day.

Along the seafront there is a cycle path, footpath and promenade. You will always see people passing by on foot, roller skates, roller blades, skate boards, bikes, scooters and the occasional unicyclist. If you head east towards the marina, there is a beach cafe with volleyball, a climbing wall, and a children's plaground. You could ride there on the beachside electric train.

The seafront around the pier has a parade of shops with some fantastic artwork. You can also take a ride on the carousel. After visiting the Sea Life Centre, you can explore the pier.

Brighton Pier

Originally built iIn 1891, the pier was built to replace the original Chain Pier. Adorned with filigree arches and a few kiosks, Brighton Pier was opened in grand ceremony on May 20th 1899. By 1901, the pier consisted of a building with minaret corner towers housing dining, smoking and reading rooms and its first concert hall. By 1911, the concert hall had become a theatre attraction. Since then the pier now host a fun fair, places to eat, an amusement arcade, and a couple of bars. All of the traditional English seaside favourites can be found from candy floss, ice cream and chips to winning that enormous cuddly toy for the one you love.

To the west, Hove is home to a watersports lagoon.
