The Outdoors Show is the place to go for ideas on what to do outdoors. The Outdoors Show is not just about getting ideas. You can actually try out the activities!
The Great Outdoors – the perfect place to escape to, tackle the pulsating river currents, hang precariously off the side of a cliff face or launch yourself down terrifying terrain on your bike…all under one roof!
Ever wanted to try a new activity but weren’t sure where to start? Then the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show is the perfect place to give it a go and receive advice from the experts.
Adrenalin junkies, adventure racers and lovers of the outdoors take note! The Outdoors Show is back this year and is set to tip the adventure barometer with the organisers struggling to fit all the exciting new additions through the doors!
Taking place from 27th March to 29th March 2009 at the NEC Arena, Birmingham, This year’s show will be staged in three huge showcasing halls, 375 exhibitors and 25 thrilling new feature areas will squeeze all they have to offer in the 31,000 m2 of space.
One exhilarating feature set to send pulses racing and the adrenalin flowing will be the totally unique ‘Skymasters Challenge’ climbing competition. Introduced into the UK for the very first time in 2008, it will bring together some of the international climbing elite take on this brand new challenge. The SkyMasters climbing wall is suspended from the ceiling of the NEC and forms an entirely overhanging route, with climbers having to negotiate immensely challenging obstacles to reach the finish. The SkyMasters climbing competition at the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show in 2009 will be fantastic to watch, where climbers will race head to head on parallel routes.
Top level climbers are invited to enter as competitors in the SkyMasters 2009. Registration will be launched at the Kendal Mountain Festival in November and climbers will also be able to enter online on the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show website.
Other features taking the show to ‘new heights’ will be the Trespass High Ropes Experience. Taking the fantastic features of the Outdoors Show into the air and away from the floor!
Ever wondered what it would be like to scuba dive indoors? Well imagine no more! The PADI Dive Pool will give those with a taste for new experiences the chance to submerge themselves, literally, in the event.
A hugely entertaining and physically demanding race will see competitors run, climb, abseil, cycle and kayak through the city’s roads and waterways to reach target checkpoints. The twist this year being that the Outdoors Show will be included as one of the checkpoints with no clue to the competitors as to the activity they may face until they reach the destination!
If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, Volkswagen will be bringing their indoor beach festival to the show. With a cocktail of live music, more action, and a complimentary smoothie to help you enjoy the events unfolding around you.
And the ‘piece de resistance’, as far as the 2007 Outdoors Show was concerned, will be the Bike Arena, which is set to shift up an entertainment-gear this year.
A brand new, purpose built track, made with 120 tonnes of dirt and a terrifying array of jumps and obstacles will play host to dare devils with the mentality to tackle it – a spectacle for sure!
With the organisers cramming more action into three days than should be deemed possible this is one show all outdoor, adventure enthusiasts should write in bold capitals into their diaries!
