There are plenty of things to do in the Yosemite National Park, which is located in the Sierra Nevada of California. There are outdoor activities for all ages to do, and this is how one teenager from a big city felt about the wilderness experience.
Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park www.nps.gov/yose/ lies in 1200 square miles of mountainous terrain in California. The national park is open all year round, however some areas become snowbound from November through to May. Yosemite has some wonderful scenery, and there are plenty of places to explore. You will see some fantastic views with lakes, waterfalls and mountains filling the wilderness.
There are many activities you can do in Yosemite, with camping and hiking being very popular. You will need to book in advance if you want to camp overnight at one of the Yosemite camping reservations or campgrounds. Yosemite is also a great place to sit and just enjoy the moment. You don't have to rush around filling your time with activities. You can sit around, be yourself and enjoy the here and now.
Yosemite Wilderness Experience
Big City Mountaineers is an organisation that takes young people on wilderness weeks so that they can get away from their everyday life and take time out to discover themselves. This is done is a supportive environment with other teenagers.
This is what one teenager thought about the whole wilderness trip.
At the beginning, I thought the trip was going to be really boring, but as days went by, my opinion began to change. As days go by, you can see how beautiful nature is when you live in it.
In Yosemite, I discovered that you can learn many things from nature, things you can’t learn within our civilization because it is so contaminated and filled with thousands and millions of people that you can’t appreciate nature. Sincerely, there is a very special place that grabbed my attention in Yosemite; it is a big place, really amazing. And I realized that all the walking and all the delay to get there was worth it.
At the beginning I was complaining about everything that was wrong but when we got to that place you can reflect in many ways and realize that everything you went through is worth it and it is a big reward to see that wonderful place.
Sincerely, now I realized that I left wanting to stay for more days and if it was up to me I would want to live there because it really is beautiful. In this trip, I also met a lot people that were very friendly and amicable with everyone and now one of those people is almost like a friend. I want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to invite me to this wonderful trip. I also thank the other people that gave us the opportunity to make this happen as how I’ve explained; this was something monumental in my life.
Thank you….
