Charity Sail 2009

  Events

If you are looking for some adventure on the high seas and want to raise money for a worthwhile charity, then you may be interested to join the Charity Sail event.

Get on board!

Whether you currently own (or crew) on a private racing yacht, or are willing to try sailing for the first time, then this is a race made for you.

Charity Sail 2009

Imagine the excitement of racing along on the open water, trimming sails, taking the helm, watching the world go by, dangling your feet over the edge as your yacht rushes along.....then this could be a fabulous opportunity for those with a sense of adventure.

We have organised a Charity Offshore Sail Race from Cowes (Isle of Wight) to Plymouth over a long weekend in May 2009, including a programme of entertainment to make it even more worthwhile!

Race by day, party by night and then possibly sail home faster under 'Spinnaker'. Watch other racing yachts compete from full view of your own deck! Take part as much or as little as you wish, but help race your boat to the finish line for a podium spot!

For experienced crew, it also provides the perfect opportunity to train for the 2009 Fastnet Race.

The Charity Sail is open to complete beginners, serious competitors, leisurely weekend sailors & Corporate teams. All will enjoy the event and get great value from the weekend, and it is, of course, in aid of a good cause.

We welcome all boats 30ft+, but would prefer 'racing yachts' (including Fairview Sailing) to enter the race itself, due to time constraints. Slower boats are welcome to cruise.

The 'Charity Sail' has been organised to raise funds for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation to help finance vital Research into a cure for Lung Cancer. For more information on the Foundation please visit: www.roycastle.org

If you are an individual, group, family/friends or a corporate body, etc wishing to charter a yacht -please go to the Charity Sail 2009 website and click on the 'Fairview Sailing' tab for more details. Mike Sellers is awaiting your call to discuss matters further.

We are indebted to the The Royal Southern Yacht Club, Hamble & The Royal Western Yacht Club, Plymouth who are assisting with the organisation of this event.
