The Great Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt

  Events

The Lake District will play host to the North of England's biggest Easter egg hunt in April.
Children and adults will be able to join the search for 100 Easter eggs across Cumbria from Wednesday 8th April until all the eggs are found.

Most Easter egg hunts take place in just one location but the Great Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt will cover more than 6,800 square kilometres (2,600 square miles), so thousands of people will be able to take part in this eggstraordinary event.

The event marks the 100th anniversary of The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies, the last of the stories that Beatrix Potter wrote featuring Peter Rabbit.

The top prize will be a 5 night family break at the four-star Low Wood Hotel on the shores of Lake Windermere and a VIP tour of the World of Beatrix Potter AttractionTM with a chance to meet Peter Rabbit.

There will be more eggciting prizes for anyone who finds nine other special eggs including a hamper of goods from Lakeland limited, a £90 pencil set from the Cumberland Pencil Museum and lunch for 4 people at the Lindeth Howe Hotel.

Everyone who tracks down one of the eggs will receive a copy of the book Peter Rabbit and the Egg Hunt and the eggs themselves, which will be specially designed by artist Sue Dunne, will also be real collector's items.

A special website will chart the progress of the hunt with a map giving a general idea of the location of each egg, together with an eggstra clue to help people find them.

Details about the location of the eggs will be available at <a href="http://www.golakes.co.uk/PeterRabbit" target=_blank">www.golakes.co.uk/PeterRabbit - after Peter Rabbit launches the egg hunt at The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere at 10.00 on the 8th of April.

The Peter Rabbit Easter egg hunt is being organised by The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Cumbria Tourism and Frederick Warne, publisher of the Beatrix PotterTM books.

The eggs could be anywhere - in the countryside where Beatrix Potter set most of her famous stories, near Hadrian's Wall in the north of the county, around one of the lakes, on a beach or in the centre of a town. However, it won't be necessary to do any digging or climbing to find them, you just need keep your eyes peeled!

Each egg will come with a number and the finder simply needs to contact The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction to find out whether they have won one of the prizes. All the prizes will also need to be collected from the Attraction.
