The National Playing Fields Association (NPFA), the charity that safeguards and improves the United Kingdom’s playing fields, outdoor recreation areas and playgrounds, has changed its working name to Fields in Trust (FIT) and adopted a contemporary visual identity to reflect its expanding role. One example of how a community worked to get somewhere for the local youth to play safely outdoors is in their article "Countryside no-go areas for children."
Note: You can find out more about Fields In Trust by visiting their website at www.fieldsintrust.org

Vast sums of money is spent annually on cleaning up graffiti, when this money could be used for the provision of leisure resources for the youth of today.
Often young people complain that there aren't enough places for them to go and have fun, but surely they are biting the hand that feeds them by the destructive nature of graffiti and vandalism. It is their parents and other taxpayers who are paying for their destructive tendencies.
If graffiti and vandalism stopped, would the money saved be used by local authorities to invest in youth facilities?
Note: If you have been involved in any community projects that have improved the environment where you live, submit your own article to Active Outdoors.

Would you like your community to be a nicer place to live? Wouldn't it be great if there was somewhere cool that you could go to hang out with your mates without being moaned at or feeling threatened?
Bradford Community Environment Project (BCEP) exists to engage communities with their environment. BCEP helps the people in Bradford make it a better place to live, work and play.
The youth in your area could follow their example and help your outdoor areas to be a nicer place to be.
