Celebrities Outdoors The National Fishing Month (NFM) launch at the CLA Game Fair at Blenheim Palace was a roaring success despite the best efforts from the unpredictable weather. Coaches from the Professional Anglers Association (PAA) and the Game Angling Instructors Association (GAIA) tutored nearly 900 people over the three days in both coarse and game angling. Nearly 600 of these were children who had little or no previous angling experience.

Outdoor Events With only six weeks to its launch, National Fishing Month (NFM) 2014 looks set to become a resounding success.

More than 150 events (running between 18th July and 31st August 2014) have already been registered on the official NFM website (www.nationalfishingmonth.com), with the number increasing daily. Each entry details when, where and how anyone who wants to learn more about fishing can take part at an event in their local area run by suitably qualified and insured angling coaches.

Outdoor Events Get fit and fight poverty!

Trailwalker takes place on 14 – 15 July 2007

Trailwalker is a 100-kilometre trek for teams of four people with a 30-hour time limit. Anyone aged 18 or over can take part – from colleagues and clients, to pub quiz teams and siblings. Although the course record is less than 10 hours, most people take between 25 and 30 hours to finish – which doesn’t allow time for sleeping!

Making walking a regular part of children's everyday lives is a good way of counteracting this worrying trend, and they could still be reaping the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle for many decades to come. The important thing is that walks need to be planned to suit the child's interests and abilities: don't expect them to enjoy walking or landscapes for their own sake in the way that many adults do.
