News Kendal Snowsports Club is set to open a new viewing gallery for spectators to watch their friends and families on the slope and inspire more people to take up skiing or snowboarding. The viewing gallery will be opened on Sunday 30th March as part of the Club’s 30th anniversary by local Winter Olympian Emma Lonsdale and has been funded by £50,000 secured from Sport England’s ‘Inspired Facilities’ Fund together with a similar amount from the member’s own funds.

News Billy Morgan took first place in the 5 star TTR Spring Battle in Flachauwinkl at the end of last week performing an impressive backside triple 1620. In a strong field Billy beat off nine other finalists to win in the last big air contest on the tour. 16 year old Rowan Coultas continued to impress making it through to the semi-finals of the event.

News The Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games have been the most successful Games to date for British skiers and snowboarders with an Olympic Bronze medal for Jenny Jones in Ladies Snowboard Slopestyle, five top ten finishes, (six including Jenny Jones), and a further five more athletes finishing in the top 20 and three in the top 30.

News Muirhead, alongside Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams, Claire Hamilton and alternate Lauren Gray, was devastated after a semi-final defeat to Canada meant there would be no Olympic gold to add to their world title.

But less than 24 hours later, they responded with a tactically brilliant 6-5 win over Switzerland's Mirjam Ott, Muirhead delivering a textbook final stone - under the most extreme pressure - to secure the victory.

News Team GB women have already been competing at the Sochi Winter Olympics. Jenny Jones (snowboarding, slopestyle) finished fifth in women’s snowboard slopestyle qualifying heat one with a best score of 74.25 from her first run to advance to the semi-finals.

Aimee Fuller (snowboarding, slopestyle) finished tenth in women’s snowboard slopestyle qualifying heat one with a best score of 44.50 from her first run to advance to the semi-finals.

  Cycling: Plans for Traffic Free Cycle highways in the sky over London

News Sir Norman Foster, the man who designed London's Gherkin, has been working with Exterior Architecture and Space Syntax on traffic free cycle highways built above the railways into London.

SkyCycle is a 136-mile (219 km) route, with the first part planned to be built from Stratford in East London to Liverpool Street Station. Just imagine having a safe route to commute on your bicycle right into the heart of London, totally separate from the traffic and with fantastic views of the city.

News The Dew Tour, a big fixture on the freestyle ski and snowboard calendar, started in Breckenridge yesterday, with Rowan Cheshire (Ski Halfpipe) and Aimee Fuller (Snowboard Slopestyle) already making it through to the finals which take place on Friday. Also competing is James ‘Woodsy’ Woods (Ski Slopestyle) who takes on qualifying today, with the finals being on Sunday. Jamie Nicholls (Snowboard Slopestyle) is on the alternate list at present.
