Outdoor Events Skiplex Basingstoke is to host an evening of free skiing as part of Snowsport England’s ‘30 Days of Snowsport’

With snowsports catching the imagination of the public after last year’s Winter Olympics, Skiplex Basingstoke is opening its doors to the public next Wednesday 15th October with an evening of free skiing, part of a national initiative run by Snowsport England called ’30 Days of Snowsport’.

Outdoor Events With a glacier situated at 3600m, Les 2 Alpes is offering the chance for people to dust off their skis and snowboards this autumn as the glacier opens for snowsports from 25 October to 2 November. This opening over the October holidays comes before the official opening of the resort in December (29 November 2014 to 25 April 2015).

Outdoor Events This Friday sees Slopestyle snowboarder Aimee Fuller take top billing at the Freestyle Friday event at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead. Fuller, who became a star on and off the slope at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, will show off her skills in the snowpark and give out invaluable tips to locals. The event is now featured as part of Snowsport England’s 30 Days of Snowsport, and runs from 6.30pm-10.30pm on Friday 19th September.

Outdoor Events Bank Holiday Day Out at the Snow Centre Summer Snow Fest!

The Snow Centre is due to hold another Open Day on the August Bank Holiday Monday following the hugely successful event it held in May to coincide with its 5th Birthday. Lift passes on Monday will be just £10 an hour and there will be a number of Freestyle features on the Main Slope to practice launching and landing from.

Outdoor Events With only six weeks to its launch, National Fishing Month (NFM) 2014 looks set to become a resounding success.

More than 150 events (running between 18th July and 31st August 2014) have already been registered on the official NFM website (www.nationalfishingmonth.com), with the number increasing daily. Each entry details when, where and how anyone who wants to learn more about fishing can take part at an event in their local area run by suitably qualified and insured angling coaches.

Outdoor Events The Snow Centre (TSC), Hemel Hempstead launches “ParkStarz” at the Jamie Nicholls Signature Freestyle Park on Friday 23rd May from 6.30-8.30pm.

Parkstarz, the new junior Freestyle/Slopestyle Coaching Clinics have been developed to introduce children age 7 to 16 years to freestyle. TSC’s expert freestyle instructors will teach young skiers and snowboarders how to best hit a range of features, including rails, boxes and kickers in their specially designed freestyle park.

The EXTREME Drift Allstar European series opening event will see 40 drivers from 14 nations do battle on a customised urban track built specifically for the British Drift GP at Stratford Park, London on May 17-18th. Lord Mayor and GB Paralympic skier to attend Winter Olympic and Paralympic themed roadshow in Birmingham

Ackers Adventure, Birmingham’s outdoor activity centre, is kick-starting the winter season and celebrating the upcoming Winter Olympics on Saturday 16th November as they host the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham, Councillor Mike Leddy and Pauline Leddy, and GB Paralympian Anna Turney at a ‘Slide2Sochi’ roadshow.



Note: The £5 TRY sessions are suitable for those 8 years of age and above although younger skiers may be possible on the day. The GO ski sessions are currently 14 – 25 years of age.

Registrations for the 8th Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB trek open at 9am GMT (10am in France) on the 10th February at www.passportesdusoleil.com.

Entries are strictly limited so register early to be sure to get your place. Last year 1000 people registered in the first hour and 3000 registered in the first 24 hours! 94% of these participants said they hoped to take part again, so the race to register is likely to be fought harder than ever!

The RELENTLESS FREEZE FESTIVAL is taking place betweenOctober 29-31st in London at Battersea Power Station. The world’s finest snowboarders are to compete in the LG Big Air, the FIS-sanctioned World Cup event. The world’s best freestyle skiers will compete in the International Big Air Event.

Not only will you get to see some fantastic sports action, there is also music from Mark Ronson, Roni Size, New Young Pony Club, I Blame Coco, Pendulum DJ set and Hadouken! Further acts are to be announced.
